Why choose Spike or Zulip?
Both Spike and Zulip offer free versions, but neither of them provides a free trial. Spike has add-ons available, while Zulip does not. Both platforms have roles management and allow for custom domain names. However, Spike offers contact management and workspace/user activity features, which are not available in Zulip. Both platforms support chat, file sharing, mentions, and 1-1 video calls. Zulip additionally offers whiteboarding, screen sharing, and breakout rooms, whereas Spike supports voice messages and group video calls. Zulip provides recording, participant permissions, and online document editing, which are not offered by Spike. Spike offers document viewing, documents management, and search capabilities for emails, attachments, and people, while Zulip's search is limited to messages only. Zulip provides a newsfeed feature, whereas Spike supports note-taking, calendar, and task management. Both platforms offer mobile, web, and desktop apps, as well as SAML/SSO authentication and end-to-end encryption. Zulip also offers integrations and API access, on-premise deployment, and data imports from other communication platforms, which Spike does not provide.
